Neurological deficits due to ischemic stroke may cause temporary or permanent disability affecting quality of life. Thus, quality of life assessment is important for evaluation of rehabilitation outcomes and general state of the health after a vascular accident.</p> <p>Objective. To evaluate quality of life in patients in the recovery period of hemispheric ischemic stroke within subsequent year after a vascular accident.</p> <p>Material and methods. One hundred twenty-three patients (age ranging 40–80 years) with stroke were examined in the acute and recovery (up to 1 year) periods. In the acute period of stroke and after a rehabilitation course, patients underwent assessment with Barthel Scale, modified Rankin</p> <p>Scale, NIHSS scale, and health status questionnaire SF-36.</p> <p>Results. We found that within the first 3 months following acute ischemic stroke there was an improvement due to rehabilitation course in all areas which determine patients’ quality of life (including Role Emotional and Mental Health SF-36 scores). Adherence to the personalized out-patient rehabilitation program determines improvement in neurological and SF-36 outcomes as well as establishes adaptive coping strategies.</p> <p>Conclusion. Within the first year after a vascular accident, patients with mild to moderate post-stroke neurological deficits showed recovery in self-care activities, functional independence, SF-36 scores for physical and mental health components along with improvement of focal neurological deficits.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="ru"><p>Введение. Ишемические инсульты приводят к временной или стойкой утрате трудоспособности вследствие развития очаговой неврологической симптоматики. Изучение качества жизни является важным критерием эффективности реабилитационных методик и оценки интегрального показателя общего состояния здоровья после сосудистой катастрофы.</p> <p>Цель исследования. Оценка качества жизни у пациентов в восстановительном периоде полушарного ишемического инсульта в течение года как интегрального показателя эффективности комплексной реабилитации.</p> <p>Материал и методы. Были обследованы 123 больных в возрасте от 40 до 80 лет с ишемическим инсультом, в остром и реабилитационном периодах (до 1 года). Оценивали неврологический статус пациентов (шкала Бартела, модифицированная шкала Рэнкина, шкала NIHSS), качество жизни (общий опросник жизни SF-36) в остром периоде и после курса реабилитационного лечения.</p> <p>Результаты. После санаторного лечения у больных регистрировалась положительная динамика во всех сферах, определяющих качество жизни, включая эмоционально-личностную сферу, в первые 3 месяца после перенесенного ишемического инсульта. Соблюдение индивидуальной программы реабилитации на амбулаторном этапе приводит к явной положительной динамике основных показателей неврологического статуса, опросника SF-36, формирует высокоадаптивные формы отношения к болезни в течение года.</p> <p>Заключение. В течение первого года у пациентов, перенесших легкий и средне-тяжелый ишемический инсульт выявлено восстановление самообслуживания, функциональной независимости, показателей физического и психического компонентов здоровья по опроснику SF-36, регресс очаговой неврологической симптоматики.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>ischemic stroke, quality of life, neurorehabilitation</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>ишемический инсульт, качество жизни, нейрореабилитация</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group/></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Vetrov A.V., Bodrova I.V., Borisova A.V. et al.
